The Housewares Design Awards— the premier awards program focused on housewares design innovation— was founded in 2003 by HomeWorld Business to honor the unyielding effort within the industry to create new ways to improve everyday living.
As the Housewares Design Awards celebrates 11 years of inspiring design, much has changed in the industry since the first awards ceremony in January 2004 at New York's Gotham Hall. One constant, however, is the central role design innovation plays in the creation of value-added differentiation as a catalyst for growth in housewares.
The annual Housewares Design Awards ceremony moved in 2005 to the Marriott Marquis overlooking New York City's Times Square, which has provided a bustling backdrop every year since to the crowing of the industry's most exciting designs. The 2014 Housewares Design Awards gala is set for February 4.
Since its inception, the Housewares Design Awards has generated more than 3,000 entries, nominated 650 finalists and crowned 130 winners. That the industry has entered thousands of entries (with no letup in leaner economic years) is a testament to its inventive spirit.
The independent judging panel for the 2014 Housewares Design Awards will select five finalists and Best in Category winners in 12 core categories encompassing the full scope of the housewares industry.
From the Best in Category winners, the judges will select Best of the Best Gold, Silver and Bronze winners representing the pinnacle of design innovation.
This year also marks the fifth annual Green House Award, a division of the Housewares Design Awards focused on eco-responsible innovation. All Housewares Design Awards entrants may opt into the Green House Award competition for a chance to be among the finalists vying for the top honor.
Mark of Excellence
Housewares Design Award winners get much more than a trophy. They earn a prestigious honor that proclaims to retailers and consumers alike that a product is independently recognized for exceptional performance, utility and style.
The Housewares Design Award logo is a mark of excellence featured prominently on the packaging of products at leading retailers across the country.

Increased Media Coverage
The Housewares Design Awards program was launched 11 years ago to give the industry a high-profile outlet for showcasing its design innovation to a consumer audience hungry for new solutions for everyday living.
