Housewares Design Awards Names 2019 Winners
Winners of the 2019 Housewares Design Awards were presented during a ceremony at the Las Vegas Market.
Lodge’s Cast Iron Cook-It-All took home the first annual Housewares Design Innovation of the Year, selected by judges from among the 11 Best in Category housewares winners.
The 14-inch Lodge Cook-It-All is two pieces of cast iron that can be configured five different ways. The reversible grill/griddle offers a large cooking surface and also acts as a lid. The 6.8-quart bottom is a wok and skillet and can be inverted to become a domed lid for baking.

A new award for Gourmet Specialty Foods, sponsored by Gourmet Insider magazine, was presented to Chukar Cherries for its Original Chocolate Assortment, which contains seven of Chukar Cherries’ most popular chocolate-covered confections.
The 3rd annual “Design Influencer of the Year” award was presented to global travel and food network Tastemade, with Chris Place, Tastemade’s head of product development and partnerships, accepting.
Winning products were selected by an independent panel of design and merchandising experts who conducted hands-on testing of hundreds of products in 11 categories. Criteria included: appropriate aesthetics; innovative materials and technology; user benefits (i.e., performance, comfort, ease of use, safety); and marketability.

Housewares Design Awards Names 2019 Finalists
The finalists are in for the 2019 Housewares Design Awards.
Winners will be announced Tuesday, January 29, at the 14th Housewares Design Awards Celebration during the 2019 winter Las Vegas Market.
Founded in 2003 by HOMEWORLD BUSINESS® to honor supplier efforts within the industry to create new ways to improve everyday living, the Housewares Design Awards recognize design excellence in 13 categories— 11 core housewares categories, an expanded “Smart Home” category and a new “Gourmet Specialty Foods” category sponsored by Gourmet Insidermagazine. All finalists will be recognized during the awards ceremony; and the first annual Design Innovation of the Year will be revealed, selected from the 11 core “Best in Category” winners.
The awards ceremony also will also feature the presentation of the third “Design Influencer of the Year” award.
Housewares Design Awards finalists were chosen by a team of nine designers, retailers and design educators who met in Las Vegas to test, review and rate the products based on four criteria: appropriate aesthetics; innovative materials and technology; user benefits (performance, comfort, ease of use, safety); and marketability.
The Las Vegas Market will host a networking reception from 5 to 6 p.m. on C11 (the 11th floor of showroom building C) of the World Market Center Las Vegas against the backdrop of a special display spotlighting the 2019 finalist products. Housewares Design Awards Entry Deadline Extended
The deadline to apply for the 2019 Housewares Design Awards has been extended from October 26 to November 2, 2018. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at an awards ceremony held during the 2019 Las Vegas Winter Market.
Applications for the 2019 Housewares Design Awards will be accepted through November 2 in 11 core product categories: Beverage Appliances; Cooking and Food Prep Appliances; Cookware and Bakeware; Cutlery and Cutting Tools; Dining and Entertaining, including tabletop, wine and bar accessories; Gadgets, Kitchen Tools and Countertop Accessories; Home Décor and Outdoor Accessories; Home Environment and Cleaning Appliances; On-the-Go Beverageware, including hydration products and thermal beverageware; Personal Care, Wellness and Garment Care Appliances; Storage, Non-electric Cleaning and Laundry Care.
In addition to the core housewares categories, the Smart Home Award will recognize network-connected products for controlling, automating and optimizing functions such as temperature, lighting, security, safety or entertainment, either remotely by a phone, tablet, computer or a separate system function. Entries may be submitted in the standalone Smart Home category, or submitted for consideration as an add-on design differentiator for any of the 11 core housewares categories.
New for the 2019 Housewares Designs Awards is a Gourmet Specialty Foods category for packaged and/or perishable shelf-stable foods and giftable specialty foods.

The winners of the 2018 Housewares Design Awards were presented Tuesday evening, January 30, during a ceremony at the Las Vegas Market.
Eleven “Best in Category” and three “Best of the Best” winners were presented from 55 finalists.
