Award-Winning History

The Housewares Design Awards— the premier awards program focused on housewares design innovation— was founded in 2003 by HomeWorld Business to honor the unyielding effort within the industry to create new ways to improve everyday living.

Much has changed in the industry since the first awards ceremony in January 2004 at New York's Gotham Hall. One constant, however, is the central role design innovation plays in the creation of value-added differentiation as a catalyst for growth in housewares.

The 14th Housewares Design Awards celebration, presented by HomeWorld Business, is set for Tuesday, January 29, 2019, during the Winter 2019 Las Vegas Market at the World Market Center Las Vegas.

Since its inaugural ceremony in 2004, the Housewares Design Awards program has recognized 762 product finalists and bestowed “Best of Category” distinctions on 154 products.

Las Vegas Market is hosting the awards ceremony for the third time and providing independent judging support for the Housewares Design Awards competition.

The independent judging panel for the 2019 Housewares Design Awards will select five finalists and Best in Category winners in 11 core categories encompassing the full scope of the housewares industry. Best in Category winners will compete for the third annual Housewares Design Innovation of the Year Award.

Also new for 2019, judges will select finalists and a winner in the first annual Gourmet Specialty Food Award, recognizing the best new packaged shelf-stable and giftable gourmet food. The 2019 Housewares Design Awards also will present the third annual Smart Home Award to the year’s top new connected-home solution in housewares.

Also on tap for the 2019 ceremony is the presentation of the third annual Design Influencer Of The Year Award to an exceptional individual or organization.

Mark of Excellence

Housewares Design Award winners get much more than a trophy. They earn a prestigious honor that proclaims to retailers and consumers alike that a product is independently recognized for exceptional performance, utility and style.

The Housewares Design Award logo is a mark of excellence featured prominently on the packaging of products at leading retailers across the country.

Retailers need new products to drive growth. Housewares Design Awards winners and finalists appeal to retailers while generating high-profile consumer media exposure that propels sales.

The Housewares Design Awards program inspires a culture of innovation that spreads from manufacturers to retailers to consumers.
