Stainless Steel Vacuum Carafe SH-HA10

Zojirushi America Corporation’s Stainless Steel Vacuum Carafe SH-HA10, Housewares Design Awards winner in the Tableware, Serveware & Beverageware category, was designed with convenience in mind, according to Tatsu Yamasaki, president and CEO.

The key unique design element to the carafe is a pinch-release stopper that can be removed quickly, and without unscrewing. It also features a one-touch pour mechanism, controlled with thumb activation, designed for easy serving. Its extra wide, 2.5-inch opening was designed to make its interior easier to clean.

“The most important design elements throughout Zojirushi’s entire product line are: safety, ease of use and ease of cleaning,” Yamasaki told HOMEWORLD BUSINESS®.

Zojirushi listened to consumer feedback, and addressed the consumer need to have a lid that is easier to remove, he said. Most carafes on the market have a screw top lid, which becomes especially difficult to remove when filled with hot beverages, and the pressure rises. With the Zojirushi SH-HA10 Carafe’s lid, he said, “It is very intuitive and easy to use. All you need is one hand; you just pinch it and lift it straight up.” Yamasaki said the company will also incorporate this new pinch-release mechanism into some of its other products in the future.

Other design details also went into the product, for example, the pour spout is covered to keep the area “fully dust free,” said Yamasaki, and the product development team also went through multiple handle designs to select a shape that is easier to hold.

The award-winning Zojirushi carafe also comes in three unique finishes, so that the consumer can find one to suit any kitchen or room, he said. It comes in standard stainless, a pink silver that has a more natural look that “will fit into a chic house,” and an orange that adds a pop of accent color to those who have a more colorful kitchen.

The carafe holds one liter of coffee or other hot beverage, and the stainless steel vacuum insulation will retain the heat for six to eight hours, he said. The insulation also prevents condensation on delicate tables or countertops.
