Jura Z6

With craft coffee continuing to influence product development in the electric coffeemaker segment, Jura has continually targeted the high-end side of the market with its automatic coffee centers.

The company’s product design initiatives were recognized recently as the Jura Z6 was named Best in Category, Countertop Cooking & Beverage Appliances in the 2017 Housewares Design Awards.

In accepting the award, David Shull, Jura’s svp/sales and marketing, noted that a great deal of innovation went into the Z6.

“This is truly a state-of-the-art machine in the premium segment of our business,” he said. “It’s a luxury item for people who want to make high quality coffee in their office or in their home.”

Touted by the company as a coffee center, the unit is designed to make a variety of specialty coffees ranging from the fiery ristretto to the mellow flat white. The Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.) is said to optimize extraction time for ristretto and espresso and it also offers 10 different milk temperatures, Aroma G3 Grinder and automatic milk frother.

The Swiss-made unit allows consumers to enjoy the bean-to-cup experience of freshly ground coffee. The Z6 also features Jura’s rotary dial and large color TFT display, allowing consumers to turn-and-press to select and brew their desired coffee specialty.

For coffee lovers looking for greater control, the Z6 allows the user to customize their brew by selecting from 10 different intensity levels. A new ceramic valve allows for an automatic switchover from heated milk to milk foam, which allows for the creation of specialty beverages.

The coffee center also offers an Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.). According to the company, a Clearyl smart water filter protects against limescale and filters water and removes substances that degrade aroma and taste, while retaining healthful minerals.

In addition, the Z6 is the first Jura model to offer automatic cleaning of the milk system at the touch of a button.
