Braun MultiQuick 9 Hand Blender

Two years after DeLonghi relaunched the Braun brand to the world of kitchen electrics, its Braun MultiQuick 9 Hand Blender is a 2018 Housewares Design Awards (HDA) winner, taking the top prize in the Countertop Food Prep Appliances category.

In addition, the hand blender was also one of three products to be named a “Best of the Best” HDA winner, winning the Bronze award.

“Design is an important part of Braun’s brand DNA,” said Jennifer Thomas, category manager, Braun. “It is an honor to be recognized for something we consider to be so important. We plan to use this Design Award as reinforcement with our retail partners and consumers regarding the importance of product design.”

Among the key features of the MultiQuick 9 Hand Blender is its ActiveBlade technology that includes a flexible shaft that moves the blade up and down, which is said to ease the chopping of several items. The unit also features a 700-watt motor, patented PowerBell Plus blade system and includes several attachments to allow for chopping, whisking and mashing food.

When working to develop the hand blender, Thomas said extensive internal testing and research was done with core consumer groups in an effort to identify pain points.

“One of the biggest opportunity areas we discovered on hand blenders was the limited cutting zone all existing fixed blade hand blenders have,” she said. “With the launch of the MQ9, Braun introduced the worlds first ActiveBlade technology that allows the blade to move up and down inside the patented power bell. This technology delivers 250% more active cutting surface which delivers two-times finer blending.”
