Roomba 690 Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum

iRobot extended the benefits of connectivity from its Roomba 900 series to its 600 series of robotic vacuums, including the Roomba 690 vacuum, propelling it to win the Housewares Awards’ first “Smart Home” award.

According to Austin Harvey, product manager at iRobot, the move gives more customers the opportunity to experience the added functionality and control of a connected robotic vacuum.

“Adding WiFi connectivity and iRobot Home App support to the Roomba 690 enriches our customers’ interaction and experience. We’ve built customer centric features directly into the app, from scheduling cleaning jobs, to notifications and direct access to customer support, allowing for more customized, powerful cleaning assistance, every day,” he said. “The Roomba 690 is also compatible with popular command services, like Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant and IFTTT, enabling Roomba customers to further automate their daily cleaning needs alongside hundreds of web-based apps and smart devices.”

As the successor to the company’s popular Roomba 650, he noted, the Roomba 690 builds on the same proven, reliable robotic vacuum platform with new connected features that allow customers to experience the luxury of automated cleaning at an affordable price.

Harvey added that WiFi connectivity and voice-command services have found remarkable success in the marketplace, and it’s clear that customers are demanding easier ways to interact with a growing number of products and technologies throughout the home. With that in mind, iRobot is aggressively pursuing opportunities within the connected home to improve its customer experience with cleaning robots, he noted.
