Cangshan Cutlery Company

Z Series

The Housewares Design Award Best in Category for Cutlery & Cutting Tools was awarded to Cangshan Cutlery Company for its Z Series of cutlery.

The Z Series cutlery features angled lines to reinforce the sleek, comfort-designed shape of the handle and focuses attention on the mosaic rivet. After a recent update to the knife line, it now features Cangshan’s proprietary high carbon 67 layer Damascus X-7 steel. This steel has a 61 Rockwell Hardness Rating which gives it a keen, Asian style edge, according to the company.

Cangshan said it developed X-7 steel to remedy the common issues high carbon steels have, namely brittleness and being easily susceptible to staining and corrosion. The X-7 steel is said to be more stain resistant than Japanese VG-10 high carbon steel while also featuring an increase in edge retention.

The knife handles are smooth with completely flush seams allowing the user to comfortably manipulate the tool and easily keep it clean. A bolster free design accommodates a natural, firm pinch grip commonly used among cooking professionals. Its distinct silhouette gives the knife’s handle subtle curves and rounded edges to create a comfortable, stable and secure grip for the user. Every knife includes a magnetic walnut wood Saya style knife sheath for safe storage.
